The CITaTIoN project is part of the “Internet of Things for Urban Innovation” (iNUIT) research program, funded by HES-SO for the period 2014-2018.

The goal of this project is to design and implement cloud computing middleware to collect, store and process data coming in from various types of physical and logical sensors: cameras, Facebook, Twitter, etc. This middleware will not only provide services to end-users’ applications, but also guarantee both the scalability and the reliability of data collection from all the sensors.

The key aspects of this project are the following:

interfacing with the Internet of Things (IoT)
privacy and data security
data storage and processing
portability
interoperability

This approach will first be validated by monitoring the crowd at local festivals or concerts. Other use cases will be defined as the project makes progress.
